Day of the Tread

Today, my (60 year old) dad rode in his first ride, for Day of the Tread. He said there was probably about 3500 people that rode. You could do 12, 26, 54, 80 or 100 miles. There was also marathons and walks. It was to benefit the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation and Casa Esperanza in Albuquerque. I am very proud of him. It amazes me that this is the first time he has done this and he is just 10 years shy of when his father learned he had lung and liver cancer and didn’t make it through the year. My dad is a prostate cancer survivor. He said next year he will do the 80 miles. Might have to look into doing the walk myself.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day. We had gone up Tramway to cheer him on, at about his 35th mile. We were outside of the Sandia Resort and Casino and the last photo is my view to the east. Beautiful.
